Generic Cabling SystemsThe increasing processing power of
desktop computers has created an environment where many users can freely
exchange and manipulate data across networks without the need for investment in
powerful mainframe systems. Open network standards have established a range of
product requirement governing all levels of communication from inter-site to
within a work area.
The most commonly recognized standards are EN50173,
ISO/IEC 11801, TIA/EIA 568A, TIA/EIA 568B.2 and TIA/EIA 568B.2-1. The
fundamental of such standards is to move away from application specific cables
to a generic standard for open network systems. This provides the user with both
increased flexibility and cost-effective solutions to networking requirements.
